Pastel Portraits

Nothing can compare to the luminosity of pastels as a medium for painting. The pigments themselves are the same as those used in oil paints, but the pastels have a higher concentration of pigment and less binder than oil paints which use (most commonly) linseed oil as a binder. Pastel paintings require the protection of being framed under glass.
